Digital and Analogue TV Reception Conditions
Most of Stow-on-the-wold is served by the Oxford Oxford transmitter. The Television signals in the Cotswolds are fairly good although due to the nature of the land you may need to have a high gain aerial and amp to receive a good signal. We can also use the Sutton Coalfield transmitter in some parts of the Stow-on-the-wold, if a good signal can not be obtained from Oxford
In poor reception areas the new freesat service from the BBC and ITV is a good alternative to Freeview. A freesat digital box will allow you to watch standard definition digital TV on your existing analogue TV much the same as Freeview, but freesat can also provide free to air HD channels from the BBC and ITV. To watch HD programmes you’ll need an HD Ready TV connected to a freesat HD digital box with an HDMI cable, or TV with freesat HD built in. Outlying areas Television Reception Conditions
In the villages surrounding Stow-on-the-wold the situation is much the same, most of the area has good television signals but there are exceptions where hills, buildings and the lay of the land block signals. In these cases we can point towards another transmitter or use the freesat option.
