Oxford has its own TV transmitter just outside the city in the village of Beckley. The Oxford transmitter serves the whole county along with some parts of the surrounding counties. The Television signals in Oxford itself are very strong. Due to this in Oxford a new digital aerial installation will deliver enough signal to feed several TV points through out the home without the need for an amplifier. As with all areas in the UK local hills and buildings may cause signal issues.

In many cases if you have poor reception our digital aerial installers can point your aerial towards the transmitter at Hannington (Newbury). Although this transmitter is out of range signals can be received, if there is a clear line of site in the direction of Hannington, with the aid of an amplifier. Please note that this will increase the cost of your installation.

In poor reception areas the new freesat service from the BBC and ITV is a good alternative to Freeview. A freesat digital box will allow you to watch standard definition digital TV on your existing analogue TV much the same as Freeview, but freesat can also provide free to air HD channels from the BBC and ITV. To watch HD programmes you’ll need an HD Ready TV connected to a freesat HD digital box with an HDMI cable, or TV with freesat HD built in. Outlying areas Television Reception Conditions

In the villages of Oxfordshire the situation is much the same, most of the area has good strong television signals but there are exceptions where hills, buildings and the lay of the land block signals. In these cases we can point towards another transmitter or use the freesat option.
